Events held at SMVITM on account of International Women’s Day

Self Defense through Karate

A one-hour session on “Self Defence through Karate“ was conducted on 5th March 2020 for interested female students of the college. The program was organized by the ‘Women Empowerment Cell’ of SMVITM as a part of a series of programs organized on behalf of

Women’s Day Celebration. Mr.Chetan R, Assistant Professor(Sr.) from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SMVITM and Mr.Sooraj Kumar, Assistant  Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering, SMVITM were the resource persons. Both the resource persons are trained Karate professionals. At the beginning, Mr. Sooraj explained the need for self-defense. He also spoke about how daily exercises helps in building the core strength of our body. Mr.Chetan demonstrated some simple exercises. Both the resource persons then demonstrated some simple moves of Karate which can be used by women to harm the perpetrator when he tries to attack.

 

Quiz – First Woman

On the occasion of women’s day, a quiz competition on the topic  ”First woman” was conducted on 6th March 2020 for interested students of the college. The program was organized by the ‘Women Empowerment Cell’ of SMVITM as a part of a series of programs organized on behalf of the Women’s Day Celebration. Student coordinators of the WEC conducted this program.

 

 

Craftwork- Earrings

A one-hour session on “craftwork earrings“ was conducted on 7th March  2020 for interested female students of the college. The program was organized by the ‘Women Empowerment Cell’ of SMVITM as a part of a series of programs organized on behalf of the Women’s Day Celebration. Ms. Shrutha, a student from the Department of Computer science and Engineering SMVITM was the resource person. She explained about how to make the earrings. The youtube link is given here

 

 

 

Visit Spandana-rehabilitation center

A program aiming at social concern was conducted on 8th March 20 for the people of Spandana, a rehabilitation center that supports differently-abled people. The program was organized by the ‘Women Empowerment Cell’ of SMVITM as a part of a series of programs organized on behalf of Women’s Day celebrations. The students organized various activities for them.

Around 25 students along with Ms. Bhagyalaxmi and Ms. Priya WEC-Departmental Coordinators attended the program which was concluded with the participants by carrying out cleaning around the premises.
