The aim of the Placement and Training Cell is
- To act as facilitator to nurture, train, groom and equip our students with the knowledge, technical, personal skill sets and humility to be the select choice of recruiting companies.
- To groom students keeping the vision of the college in mind – to successfully engineer careers and lives of our students with character and care.
- To launch industry ready students with the knowledge, skillsets and humility for success
- To keep reinforcing a “Can do, never say die” attitude
- To individually counsel every new student joining this Institute to help them understand their own potential and prepare them to overcome obstacles they face academically or personally.
- Train students in technical concepts for the knowledge and skill set building
- To groom students’ personalities through soft skills to influence values and belief systems to lead positive attitudinal changes.
- Life skills to equip students to handle the challenges of life through life skills coaching
- Make students industry ready through an exposure to the industry and its demands through initiation of Knowledge Clubs and activities, Industry expert talks and walks, Research work, Mentorship, Guest lectures, Internships, Project work, Alumni Speaks and other related activities.

I love this phrase and it has always inspired me as a guiding philosophy in my personal and professional life.
To all my students, I challenge them on similar lines. DREAM BIG. When you dream big, you make things happen. When you set the goal, aim for 100% and prepare yourselves through effort and practice to achieve it through smaller doable goals. Achieving small goals increases your confidence and motivates you to carry out the next steps enthusiastically. Yes, there will be obstacles along the way and that is the way to learn important life lessons. You will achieve 80% success in the process. Don’t set mediocre, average expectations, and goals for yourself. If you aim for 60%, you may achieve the same 80%, which is 48%. So, which is better?
My second advice is to BE GENEROUS and SELFLESS. Share your knowledge with everyone. That makes you understand the subject better. The more you improve your subject knowledge helping your friends or the weak students in your class, you become more competent to clarify doubts, solve problems, and get the ability to share clear-cut solutions. This builds your people skills and competencies. You build relationships and bonds with so many people which lasts a lifetime. Being selfish only makes you insecure, resentful, and envious and it’s not worth it in the long run.
ROLE OF THE TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL
The role of the Placement Cell of SMVITM is to ensure that all students confidently launch their career path before they step foot outside the college post their graduation. This includes jobs in the private of govt sector, jobs in the Defense Forces or Merchant Navy, Higher Studies in India or abroad, Entrepreneurship, or even specialized training. We are the facilitators whose job is to provide opportunities to students, provided the students put in equal efforts by preparing themselves through subject knowledge, application skill sets, attitudes, and behavior which are the guiding forces that help them to achieve their goals and meet with success in getting placed or finding the opportunities of their interest
The Placement Cell of SMVITM has always strived to facilitate placement for its students through three areas – Career guidance, Pre-placement training, and Employment/Placement opportunities. Career guidance is given to the students through invited talks from people from various industries giving them an understanding of various sectors and industries that they have the scope in. They are also given orientations on preparations for competitive exams like GATE, GMAT, CAT, TOEFL through various coaching institutions, virtual resources, newsletters, etc. The College has signed MoU’s with various training partners to skill-up the students through Technical, Softskills, and Aptitude training to complement the knowledge gained from stream-related subjects to meet the demands and requirements from industries for the hiring process. Students have opportunities to apply for recruitment drives of Mass recruiters like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, etc along with mid-sized companies and start-ups across India. Being a VTU affiliated college, we are also supported by the VTU Centralized Placement Cell, through various learning portals, internship & job portals; assessment and training companies. Opportunities to find employment with local companies like Robosoft Technologies, Manipal Technologies, Niveus Solutions, Karmic Designs, etc, are also encouraged.

Students of SMVITM are eligible for a two-offer advantage. Once they get the second offer letter in hand or an official confirmation on email from the company or host college in case of a pool drive, they are instructed to email and inform the Placement Cell /Officer of their final decision and acceptance within one week. This is to enable the company representatives to be informed in time about confirmation or inability to join the company. They will also have to write to the HR of the company stating their decision to maintain professional integrity.
The SMVITM Placement Cell cordially invites interested companies to conduct their campus recruitment drives for our passing out batch or pre-final year students for internships or employment opportunities basis the following parameters:
- The credibility of the company and growth prospects.
- Manpower requirements for fresh engineering graduates for internships/full-time employment.
- The package being offered by the company.
- Past track record of recruitment.
- Good reviews and recommendations from the Alumni regarding the company.
Based on the manpower requirements of the visiting company, the Training and Placement In-charge will take the decision to hold exclusive campus drives for its students or host pooled drives with other colleges.
To cater to large or mass recruiters, the college has joined hands with neighboring colleges to form a Consortium of 28 colleges for conducting pooled campus drives and get the best talent from every college.
