AVISHKAR

The very objective of education is to identify, nurture and promote the innovative ideas in the young mind says Swami Vivekananda. Understanding the significance of this statement, SMVITM thought of providing a platform for the students of Pre-University level to showcase their interests in application of scientific knowledge into executable projects. This resulted in “AVISHKAR”. 

It all began in the year 2014. With the constant support from the Management, college authorities planned to promote scientific thoughts among the students at PU level itself so that they are able to apply the knowledge of the science topics into usable products. Over these years AVISHKAR has seen nearly 500+ projects/science models being prepared and exhibited by the students from not only nearby colleges but also from PU colleges of other districts like Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru. 

Handpicked eminent persons from Industry and academia were invited to judge the science models exhibited and also to give the feedback on the projects exhibited by students to elevate it to a commercial product. On an average 60 to 70 projects have been exhibited every year. Best models have been awarded with attractive prizes too. 

Apart from just taking part in the event as exhibitors, PU students would also get an opportunity to see the facilities being offered at SMVITM for the students  and also to interact with their seniors, faculty members to plan and set their growth in terms of technology. 

Post exhibition also some of the students were in touch with the faculty members of SMVITM in order to upscale the existing product.
