The Student Chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) in association with Civil Engineering Department of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal organised a technical talk on Suspension foot bridges for Rural Development at the institute premises on 07 April 2017.
Padmashree Er. B Girish Bharadwaj, Proprietor AYASSHILPA, Sullia popularly known as The Bridge Man delivered a talk on “Suspension foot bridges for Rural Development”. In the beginning Er. Girish explained the need for bridge connectivity and how urban connectivity to rural and village will make a country to prosper. Continuing the session Er. Girish explained various types of suspension bridges, its design principles, and its advantages, disadvantages. Later Er. Girish presented over 100 suspension bridges to students which he has designed and constructed over three decades of his career.
The Principal of SMVITM, Prof. Dr.Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Prof. Dr.B. Radheshyam, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sudarshan Rao K, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty and Staff members were present during the session. Ms. Sahitya Shetty introduced the chief guest and Ms. Gaythri jathan welcomed the gathering and compeered the program.
