Talk on “Swami Vivekananda: The Eternal Youth Icon” at SMVITM

As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav, On the occasion of National Youth Day and 160th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, NSS-YRC Unit and Institution’s Innovation Council of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal jointly organized a talk on Swami Vivekananda: The Eternal Youth Icon” on Thursday, 12 January 2023. Dr. Shivananda Nayak, Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Subbaiah Medical College, Shivamogga, was the resource person.

Dr. Shivananda Nayak started with the presentation by briefing the importance of the Day that is January 12, which is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to celebrate and honour what preached, imparted, left for humanity and his contributions. He said that the National Youth Festival is held every year to provide national-level exposure to the young generation of the country, along with encouraging them to participate and contribute in nation-building. To highlight the importance of building a progressive youth population, the theme of the festival this year is ‘Viksit Yuva-Viksit Bharat’. It brings to the fore the cultural diversity that India is blessed with as it provides a common platform for participants from across the country to showcase glimpses of their distinct and unique culture.

Dr. Nayak highlighted that the youths are energetic and enthusiastic. They have the ability to learn, adapt to the environment and act on it to achieve their goals. Youth can bring social reform and improvement in society. Youth of any country is a great asset and they are the building blocks of a country.

Earlier, Principal, Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, briefly highlighted significance of celebrating National Youth Day and explained about life style of Swami Vivekananda. He mentioned that the nation requires the participation from all the youths to achieve their goals and help in taking the country towards progress.

Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal; Dean, Student Welfare Officer, HODs of various departments, Section heads were present during the talk. Mr.Nagaraja Rao, Coordinator NSS-YRC Unit conducted the program. Ms. Shreelakshmi of 3rd year CSE welcomed the gathering and compeered the program; Mr. Swaroop Kumar of 3rd year CSE introduced the resource person and proposed vote of thanks. More than 150 students including Faculty, Staff were participated in the talk.
