A talk on “Career Opportunities for Engineers in Defense sector” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of SMVITM on 12 April 2017. Lieutenant Commander (Retd) Deepak Puttaraj, IN the speaker has served the Indian Navy for 10 years between 2004 and 2014 as Commissioned Officer.
In his address, Mr. Deepak highlighted the importance of certain traits a person must inculcate to be a part of our proud armed forces. He mentioned the importance of communication, individual and team spirit, able to absorb pressure and reacting positive to any situation.
The talk also highlighted his experience when he was a part of the Indian Navy. He also shared several ways to prepare, try and get admitted to armed forces. He insisted that the Indian armed forces are the best to be a part of and serve the country and more number of students must make up their minds to pursue a career or at least try to be a part of the armed forces.
The faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department along with about 150 students from second and third year attended this session. The students interacted with the resource person and gained clarity on several aspects pertaining to serving in the Indian armed forces. Three pre-final year students, Mr. Ateeth Shetty, Mr. Shreedhar Baht and Mr. Gaurav K.G welcomed the gathering, introduced the speaker to the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks.
Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Sudarshan Rao K arranged the talk and Mr. Aditya Kudva S, Assistant professor; Department of Mechanical Engineering coordinated the same.
