Start-Up funding from Government of India to MSME Incubation Center of SMVITM

Dr. Sachin Bhat, the Head of the E& C department of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal has received the funding assistance of Rs. 11.5 Lakh for his innovative idea titled “SURGICAL SPONGE DETECTION SYSTEM” under the MSME incubation scheme.

The Ministry of MSME, Government of India invited ideas at the national level and conducted MSME Idea Hackathon 2022. Need of the Idea: Errors in the use of medical sponges during emergency surgery and poor communication between surgical staff during a surgery might lead to accidents. As a result of this, sponge detection systems have become more and more important, as healthcare professionals strive to reduce the risk of errors to provide precise patient care.

Applications: Abdominal Surgery, General Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Orthopedic Arthroscopy, Neurology and Cardiology require sponge detection systems.
