National Youth Day Celebrations

The National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC) and Rotaract Club (RC) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, celebrated the National Youth Day on 12 January 2021 to commemorate the 158th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Dr. Shivakumar Magada, Professor and Head, Fisheries Research and Information Centre, Hebbal, Bengaluru was the invited speaker on the occasion. Speaking on the NYD theme of year 2021 “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building”, rather than just trying to get top marks in academics youth should understand and try to address the problems faced by the society. Continuing his speech, youth have the power to become answers to the various difficulties of our Nation by utilizing knowledge and natural resource in an effective way in turn fulfilling Swami Vivekanda’s proposition of ‘Aatma Nirbhara Bharat’. He motivated students to become pillars of their family by becoming self-reliant and should lead a cultured and worthful life which would be the greatest contribution to the country and the society.

The Principal of the institute, Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat spoke about the importance of National Youth Day and told that youths does not lack in practicing celebration but there’s lack of compliance in the same.

Dr. C K Manjunath, Student Welfare Officer, deciphered the life of Swami Vivekananda.

Students, Deans, HOD’s, teaching and non-teaching staff members of various departments, NSS/YRC/RC Department coordinators were present in the occasion.

The program commenced with the invocation by Ms. Prajna Y. The program was compeered by Ms. Chaitra G Shetty and Ms Niveditha Hebbar proposed vote of thanks.
