Motivational Talk On Careers in Mechanical Engineering

There was a motivational talk on scope for students to build a career in Mechanical Engineering by Mr. Shama Sundar. The talk was very motivating and interactive. The members of the club understood about how broader the field of Mechanical Engineering is and how they can elevate their career in this field.

Mr. Shama Sundar also shared his experiences – the journey from where he started to his keen pursuit of updating himself with education and experience and hence gaining different kinds of experiences which has served him well to cater to different sectors and industries.

He stressed the fact that engineers are a breed with logical thinking and reasoning skills that is not shared by the non-technical branch of education and this is very critical in the progress that technology is making to become more inclusive and integrated.

He also advised the students on the qualities of being humble, learning as much as possible by observation and taking on more responsibilities to become as skilled as possible in the first few years of the career without the thought of stressing too much on pay or place. He said that as the industrial belts for Mechanical students is mainly in Pune, Ahmedabad and Mumbai; they should be open to moving to these places for the sake of their career growth and better prospects.
