Invited talk on “Career Prospects for Young Engineers”

Shri Madwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal in association with ISTE Student Chapter organized an Invited talk on 22 November 2019. Mr. Sreenivasa Ramanujam K, General Manager and Karnataka Lead – Academic Interface Program, Tata Consultancy Service, Bengaluru was the resource person. He addressed the third year Computer Science and Electronics and communication Engineering students of the college on the subject “Career Prospects for Young Engineers”.

Mr. Ramanujam has 26 years of experience working in industry. He started his talk with a purview of the Industrial revolution over the years and how it transformed to current Industrial revolution 4.0, which is all about Digitalization and Technology Transformation. He focused on the need of developing multidisciplinary skills among the students by not just concentrating into their branch specific subjects, but to also understand the foundations of other branch.

He explained Social Media, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics,Mobility and AI & Robotics are the 5 Digital and technology drivers of today and highlighted the industry expectations from fresher’s as they join the industry. He briefed on how the model of hiring today has changed from the traditional form to new methods of hiring through analyzing once coding skills, testing skills, participation in hackathons etc. He also highlighted the importance of internship in grabbing an employment opportunity. Finally, he shared a few tips with the students regarding the questions asked during the interview process and do’s and don’ts when facing an interview.

The Placement officer Ms. Vidya Bhat introduced the guest. The Vice principal of the college Dr. Ganesh Aithal felicitated the guest with a memento. Apart from students few faculty members of the college were also present for the session.
