Industrial visit to Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, Malpe

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal in association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the institute has organized an industrial visit to Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, Malpe on 31 March 2023 for the benefit of 2^nd and 3^rd year students of Mechanical Engineering.

The safety department officials have briefed regarding the safety procedures practiced in the yard. Deputy Manager Mr. Santhosh took the students in to the yard. He explained about the various projects completed and the on-going projects in the Malpe yard. He briefed the students regarding ship-building and the features of the deep-sea finishing ships. The students have visit various facilities such as hull erection & launching capacity, shed with clear height of 30 m for construction of vessels, open bay for vessel construction, wet basin for outfit and commissioning, humidity controlled marine coating shop, transfer bay, winch assisted cradle system etc.

Our alumni of ECE Mr. Vinay Bangera (2010-2014 batch), employee of UCSL, Malpe has interacted with our students and gave information regarding various job opportunities for the Mechanical Engineering graduates at UCSL. Mr. Prashanth N K, Project Manager of SMVITM, Dr. Raja Yateesh Yadav, HOD of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Manjunatha S, Asst. Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering have accompanied the students.
