IIOT 2K18

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, under the aegis of the Student Chapters of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Internet of Things (IoT) Club and IEEE student branch organized a National Level Student Convention/Project Exhibition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT – 2K18) at the institute premises on 27th October 2018. More than 40 teams from various Engineering colleges across the state exhibited their project models in the event.

The Convention cum Exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Rathan Rao Pathur, Chief Technical Officer, Tayana Software Solutions, Bengaluru and the Guest of honor Mr. Krishnaraja, Director, Infosys Technologies, Mangaluru along with Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, GC Member, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust (SSVMET) who presided over the function. Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal and Dr. Vasudeva, Convener – IIoT 2K18 were also the dignitaries on the dais.

Mr. Rathan Rao Pathur said that, a project is a continuous process which leads to a product. He pointed out that technology has made life easy and us lazy. So he stressed on the point that science, technology and life should go together. He stated the key to success is through right decisions which are gained by experience which in turn comes from wrong decision. He concluded by suggesting everyone to be humble and acknowledge with gratitude.

Mr. Krishnaraja in his address expressed his happiness to see our institute take IoT as a theme for knowledge enhancement event. By mentioning some scenarios, laziness is a reality from which we cannot get away. So he suggested that we develop ourselves as an individual and contribute to the society.

Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal in his Presidential Address spoke about how IoT started in this institute. He also stated that our institute started IoT even before the neighbouring colleges entered the field and expressed his happiness in knowing the fact that large number of students participated in this event. He concluded by wishing that the event to be a grand success.

Rakesh Shiriyara, CISCO Systems India Pvt. Ltd. , Shreepad Hebbar, Principal Architect, Robosoft Technologies, Udupi, Chandrakanth Sakharwade, Scientist, Pavitra Nayak, Alumni of SMVITM and Software Engineer, Manipal Dot Net, Manipal and  Siju V Soman, Former Asst. Professor of SMVITM, Chandrashekar Rao Kuthyar, Lead Consultant of SangamOne Pvt. Ltd. were  the jury members for Project Exhibition and Student Convention respectively, who were also present during the function.

The event began with an invocation from Ms. Sahana Udupa, Final Year CSE. Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal welcomed the gathering and Mr. Shrivishnu, IIoT Student Coordinator, Final Year CSE proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Divyashree compared the program.

Valedictory ceremony of National Level Student Convention/Project Exhibition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT – 2K18) was held in Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, under the aegis of the Student Chapters of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Internet of Things (IoT) Club and IEEE Student Branch at the institute premises on 27th October 2018.

Dr. Prashanth Bhat Chief Technical Officer, Manipal Dot Net, Manipal, participated as the chief guest for the function and distributed the prizes. In his address he congratulated everyone who participated and organized the event. He said that the experience of participating and preparation will help in a long way. He was happy to know that IIoT was the theme of the event and the students were focusing their energy on recent technological trends. He spoke about various technological challenges of  IOT with examples. He exclaimed that the projects were much better than what he expected from undergraduate students. He concluded by saying that these kinds of events are excellent opportunities to learn new things and explore.

Prof. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal of the institute presided over the function. Dr. K K Srinivasan, Professor, Department of Chemistry was distributed the prizes for the winners of coding competition.

The event began with an invocation from Ms. Chinmayi V Kulkarni, Final Year CSE. Ms. Samanvitha Bhagavath, IIoT Student Coordinator, Final Year CSE  welcomed the gathering. Ms. Raksha Final year CSE introduced the chief guest. Dr. Vasudeva, Convener-IIoT 2K18 delivered the vote of thanks.

Among the 39 participants who took part in IIoT-2K18, five teams were rewarded for their projects.

First prize was bagged by Deepak Nayak,Ullas,Sourabh Shetty and Abhijith Serigara of second year. Second prize was bagged by Yahya Asadi,Poojary Shubham and C Gagan Babu of second year. Three teams secured consolation prize: Shetty Latish Bhaskar ,Mahesh Acharya and Reevan Nelson Lobo fourth year; Preetham , Harish Acharya ,Shrivathsa Acharya and Nikhilesh of first year; Vimitha,Y V  Sneha ,Vaishali and Rieona Fernandes of third year.
