The inaugural function of Hackothsava 2023, a state-level, 24-hour Hackathon organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management in association with the Institution’s Innovation Cell and Indian Society for Technical Education was held on 2nd June 2023 at college premises. Kambala Solutions, Biwam India and Niveus Solutions were the partners for the Hackothsava 2023.
Dr. Geetha Maiya, Director of Student Affairs, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal was the Chief Guest. At the outset she congratulated all the participating teams. She emphasized that participation is more important than winning. Also she said that such events help in developing leadership qualities, teamwork, enhancing learning skills and problem solving capabilities. Dr. Maiya mentioned that Innovation and collaborative work are very important aspects in the present days. She said to the students that participation in such events help to develop the career of the students and they need to use these opportunities to emerge as young entrepreneurs.
Shri RathnaKumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust Udupi was the Guest of Honor. He congratulated all the participants and mentioned that it was a proud moment to have students from prestigious institutions across different parts of Karnataka.
Dr Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal of SMVITM in his presidential remarks stated the importance of Hackothsava and requested the participants to participate enthusiastically in coding Quests. He said that the educational application developed during Hackathon of 2021 helped solve rural area problems. He concluded by wishing the best to all participants.
Dr Soumya J Bhat, HOD, Department of Computer Science & Engineering welcomed the gathering.
Mr. Clinton from 3rd year Computer Science & Engineering and Ms. Shreya from 3rd year Electronics and Communication Engineering were the masters of Ceremony for the program.

Mr. Prasad Pai K, Data Architect, Niveus Solutions was the Chief Guest of the program. During his address Mr. Pai highlighted that with the growth of manufacturing in India, IoT would gain more prominence and a synergy across branches of engineering would be very much essential. Speaking specifically about the Hackothsava 2023, he appreciated the efforts of the students, how they can further improve and seek a career in the IT Sector. He advised the students to be creative and implement reliable research as a part of their regular routine to excel.
Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal of SMVITM was the president of the program. He addressed the gathering and expressed the joy of hosting a successful program of this scale. He also appreciated all the concerned people responsible for the success of the event and also advised to keep on organizing such programs regularly so as to benefit the student community.
Winner of Hackothsava 2023 under the theme Transformative Education with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, Heisenberg, SJEC, Mangalore, second prize with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 Team Vita, SJEC, Mangalore and third prize with a cash prize of 10,000 team Infinite Loop, MITE, Mangalore.
WINNER of Hackothsava 2023 under the theme Sustainable Industrialization with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 Hive Link, Canara Engineering college, Mangalore, second prize with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 Technowarror, SMVITM, Bantakal and third prize with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 Team Urban, JIT, Bengaluru.
