Department of Civil Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized four day Faculty Development Program on “Technologies for sustainable development and post COVID challenges” from 21 December to 24 December 2020 with the objective of enhancing the knowledge of the faculty members and giving them better insights into the sustainable materials, with special emphasis on post COVID challenges.
First session delivered by Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane, Psychiatrist, A.V Baliga Hospital Udupi. In his session he has detailed on the importance of stress management, guidance and advice during the COVID-19 pandemic for faculty members.
Second day session delivered by, Dr. Lakshmikanth, Environmental Officer, KSPCB Karwar on Sustainable Environmental Geotechniques. He briefed on sustainable materials, Impact of human activities on the local ecosystems and the planet as a whole on regular basis, use of latest technologies and tools to help in the assessment of the situation and to find the solutions.
Third day session was addressed by, Dr. Vageesha S Mathada, Professor BKIT, Bhalki on Reliability concepts in Geotechnical Engineering. He briefed on Reliability engineering and how to minimize the failures, shorten repair timesof civil Engineering structures, and to meet customer & organization expectations.
Last day session delivered by, Dr. Sujatha Unnikrishnan, Professor, Christ University Bengaluru on Post COVID challenges in Civil Engineering. Emphasized on sustainable construction materials, research aspects on sustainable Geomaterials and tips to the Civil Engineers on Post COVID Challenges.
