Enhancing Teaching Methodology

SSVMET, Udupi under community club of SMVITM organized a 12 day Faculty Development Program “Enhancing Teaching Methodology” for the faculties of SVH PU College Innanje, SVH English medium High School Innanje, SVH Kannada medium High School Innanje, SVS nursery and primary school Innanje and Kadiyali Higher and Primary School Kadiyali, at SMVITM campus from 15 May to 26 May 2018 with the objective of enhancing the teaching skills of the faculty members and giving them better insights into the different aspects of the teaching learning process ,with special emphasis on English learning.

The programme was inaugurated on 15 May 2018 by Prof. Ramanan, Formerly of Madras English teaching campaign. In his keynote address, he elucidated the vital role that a teacher plays in the life of a student. His Holiness Sri Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji presided over the function.

In the morning session titled, The Nuances of Teacher Leadership and Teacher Effectiveness, Prof. Mathew C Ninan, Director Littlerock Indian School, Brahmavara illustrated Nuances of Visionary Leadership, Pygmalion Effect, good teacher should be always available, always wanted, liked, bring happiness, ready to help, understanding the concerns of the students.

On 17 May Dr. B.M. Somayaji, Retired HOD of Chemistry, PPC, Udupi delivered a talk on Methodology of Teaching. He elaborated on what actually the teacher is and what is the responsibility of a teacher, how to use the motivation techniques in the class room, what was meant by effective teaching and professionalism.

On 18 May Dr. C.K. Manjunath, Professor, Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, spoke on “Happiness & Enthusiasm”: the vital factor of the life is to discover “happiness” also in the second session he conducted with fun full activity to develop the class room management and eye contact would help the students to keep intact in the class. And afternoon session by Mr. B. MuralidharBhat, Professor, Dr. TMA pai college of Education spoke on Multiple Intelligence, conducted Multiple intelligence test and conveyed that for the overall growth of the child in different disciplines like Linguistic, Logical, Musical, Bodily etc., areessential.

On 19 May Dr. MadhavaBhat, Retd. Principal HRD and TQM, facilitator and Research guide spoke on “Experiential based Learning” and “Communicative Skill to influence”: First make sure that the student’s mind lid is open before pouring the information, unless confirming that whatever effort we make will gain nothing. And the last session on the same day Mr. Ramakrishna Pai, Principal, PPC, Adhmar spoke on “Psycho Analysis and Personality development”: libido energy is the driving factor and briefed the way to counsel the slowlearners.

On 20 May SharadViharidas, Trustee BACCE foundation spoke on “Value Orientation” and “Mind control techniques”: One has to understand the core values of religion and lead the life with moral values.

On 21 May Mr. JayaprakshRao.K, Former PRO, DRDO Ministry of Defense has delivered a invited talk on the topic “Life & Mission of Dr. Abdul Kalam”. In his talk he emphasised Dr. Kalam’s patriotism, simplicity and dedicated life towards building thenation.

On 22 May Rev.Fr. Xavier Lobo, Retd. English Professor, Nitte spoke on “Phonetics”, “Time Tense” and “Etiquettes of Group Discussion”. Afternoon session by Mr. Rajesh D’souza, Lecturer, Alvascollege spoke on “PersonalityDevelopment”.

On 24 May Mr. Ravi Kumar, coordinator of Block Resource Center, Malavalli spoke on “Role of Teachers” and “Preparation of Blue Print”. On the same day afternoon session by Mr.ChandrashekarRao, Ex-SBI staff, Motivator and Spoken English Trainer spoke on “Communicative Skill”

  • Mr. Kishor Kumar Asst. Professor, Mech Dept. gave a talk on Career guidance and SMVITM for Engineering: Brand Building followed by SMVITM campusvisit.
  • Mr. Manoj T, Asst. Professor CSE Dept. gave a talk on E-Learning- A technological disruption in knowledge dissemination

For the Valedictory function Mr. V.G Shetty, Businessman, Medical dealer, Udupi was the chief guest, Mrs. PrabhavathiHegde, Ex Head Madam, Innanje was the Guest of Honor and Sri Rathnakumar was presiding over the function.
