AVISHKAR 2K18 – INTERCOLLEGIATE SCIENCE FEST

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, under the aegis of the Student Chapter of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and community club, organized Avishkar 2K18,  the fifth edition of annual intercollegiate science Fest for Pre University College students of the Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts at the institute premises on 02 November 2018. More than 300 students participated in science quiz, poster preparation and science model competitions.

The event was inaugurated by H. H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President, SSVMET. In his inaugural address he opined that who succeed in today’s world competitive environment is very essential. In order to get complete sense of life It is important to have the experience of defeat also.

Dr. V Ravichandran, CEO, Diya Systems, Mangaluru was the chief guest for the function. In his address he elaborated how an innovative idea is thought of, conceptualized, designed and implemented. He urged the students to inculcate the research and innovation in the early age of life.

Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, welcomed the gathering and Ms. Deepika B V, Coordinator of the program proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Apoorva introduced the chief guest. Ms. Jayaprada Bekal and Ms. Sushmitha compared the program.

The Valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony of Avishkar 2K18, the fifth edition of annual intercollegiate science Fest for Pre University College students of the Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts was held at the institute premises on 02 November 2018. H. H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President, SSVMET presided over the function and gave away the prizes to the winners of the competitions.

Sri Bhaskar Hande, General Manager, Syndicate Bank was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he threw lime light on the innovations that happened over a period of time in India right from the rise of civilization till date in India. He also highlighted the contributions of Indians towards medicine, Ayurveda, Vedic Mathematics etc. and urged to think out of box and gain knowledge not merely by reading but by doing out experiments practically.

Dr. Ushaprabha L Nayak, Vice Chairperson, Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation, Mangaluru was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, she said to explore the opportunities available in the society to build their future and not to waste time hanging in social medias like facebook, instagram etc.

Little Rock Indian School of Brahmavar bagged the first place in the Quiz Contest, MGM PU College, Udupi secured second and PPC, Adamar finished third. Sharadha PU College, Mangaluru won first place in Poster Designing Competition, MGM PU College, Udupi secured second and Jnanaganga PU College of Nellikatte finished third. Dr. NSAM PU of Nitte finished second and Christ King PU College of Karkala secured third place in science model competition. Shri Maarikamba Govt. PU College of Shirsi bagged first prize in Science model competition and also won the overall championship and MGM PU College Udupi finished as RunnerUps of Avishkar-2K18.  Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Prof. Venkatesh Bhat, Prof. Bhaskar Acharya and Mr. Nataraj Upadhya were the jury members.

 Mr. Rajesh Nayak welcomed the gathering and Mr. Venugopal Rao,  Department of CSE  proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Chethan R &  Mr. Raghavendra Rao announced the winners. Ms. Samanvitha  & Mr. Sooraj Shet compeered the Program.
