Alumni Talk by Ms. Devika Lakshmeesha

The alumni interaction activity by Ms. Devika Lakshmeesha (2011-2015 CSE Batch) was arranged by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Alumni Cell on 14th September, 2019. The students of final year of CSE department were the beneficiary of this program.

Ms. Devika was placed in HP and currently working in Infosys, Mangalore as Senior System Engineer. Speaker gave insights about how to do preparation for any placements. She stressed upon the importance of doing projects and how one can learn from it. She suggested on continuously practicing and keeping oneself updated regularly with trending technologies. She mentioned about some of useful sites like HackerRank where one can practice programming for learning. Ms. Devika highlighted the importance of soft-skills, behaviours and communication skills in the corporate world.

Speaker talked about how first few years of career experience helps in career growth in the later stages. She stressed upon not to be idle and keep oneself active. She also stressed upon not to waste time and learn one or other skills to enhance the knowledge. She shared about Infosys experience; different levels of posting, locations, and work culture. She also suggested about certification course to be done by students. Ms. Devika suggested to be excelling in any software career one should be an efficient coder and should come up with proper outcome. Speaker wished the best to all who are appearing for placements. At the end, Dr. Vasudeva, HOD, Department of CSE motivated students to prepare well for the placement by boosting the confidence in them.

Ms. Tejaswini H welcomed the gathering and introduced speaker to the audience. Dr. Vasudeva, HOD, Department of CSE presented the memento to the Guest speaker. Ms. Tejaswini H and Ms. Ramyashree, Assistant professors and Department Alumni coordinators, Department of CSE, coordinated the event.
