Workshop on Mobile Application Development using Android

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the Co-Curricular Committee of the CSE Department, SMVITM, organized a workshop on Android Application Development for the BCA students of St. Mary’s College, Shirva, as part of the
MOU activity. This hands-on session was conducted on the 19th and 20th of March 2025. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Savitha Shenoy, Assistant Professor (Senior), and Ms. Sahana Karanth, Assistant Professor (Senior), from the Department of CSE, SMVITM. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony held on 19th March 2025 in Lab F103 of the Laboratory Block.
During the inaugural address, the Head of the CSE Department of SMVITM Dr Soumya J Bhat emphasized the significance of such workshops in enhancing students’ technical skills and career prospects in app development. She highlighted the growing demand for Android application development and how students could leverage these skills to build innovative solutions. Mr. K. Praveen Kumar, Head of the BCA Department of St. Mary’s College Shirva expressed his gratitude to the management of SMVITM for facilitating such valuable learning experiences. He encouraged students to explore projects in emerging technologies, which would greatly benefit their future careers.
The workshop provided participants with practical exposure to Android development, covering essential concepts such as UI/UX design, mobile application architecture, and codingfundamentals using Android Studio. The interactive sessions enabled students to develop and
deploy their own Android applications, thereby strengthening their technical proficiency. The event was effectively coordinated, with Mr. Raghvendra G S, Assistant Professor (Senior), serving as the master of ceremony for the inauguration programme. Overall, the workshop was a successful initiative, equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of Android application development.
