SECOND GRADUATION CEREMONY

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal organized its second graduation ceremony at the institute premises on 7 November 2015. Graduates who passed out during the academic year 2014 -15 received their graduation certificates from the chief guest, Mr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman, Indian Space research Organization (ISRO), Bengaluru at the ceremony.

2 Graduation DayIn his address to the graduates, Mr. Kiran Kumar said that the new generation engineers had the responsibility of carrying forward the legacy of great engineers, who made remarkable achievements in different branches of engineering. Engineering, according to him, was doing a task systematically using scientific principles. The Prime objective of technology was to make things safe and comfortable by solving problems ranging from the simple to the complex .He illustrated how technology could be used for the welfare of humankind with the achievements of ISRO. He urged the graduates to come up in their life and bring laurels to the country.

H. H. Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi, who presided over the ceremony, presented gold medals to the branch toppers and the institutional merit-cum-means scholarships to the selected students on the occasion. In his presidential address, he congratulated the graduates and reminded them that education was a never ending process and they should keep educating themselves throughout life. One should, like the lotus – which has its roots in mud but ever remains beautiful – in spite of one’s miserable background, should remain pure and good in one’s soul, he said.

Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM administered the institutional oath to the graduates and in his address said that the fresh graduates should render their services to eradicate poverty and make health and education accessible to the entire population of the country. He urged the fresh graduates to be entrepreneurs and provide employment to people in whatever capacity they could.

Dr. A. Ganesha, Dean (Academics), SMVITM, read out the list of gold medal winners and Prof. Raviprabha K, Student Welfare officers announced the institutional merit-cum-means scholarship awardees.

A student team of SMVITM consisted of Mr. Pratheek Hegde, Mr. Shricharan Bhat, Ms. Amrusha, Ms. Sankusha and Mr. Nikhil Acharya, that won the first prize in the VTU State Level Education Hack Fest-Oct 2015 for their application Vidya AAdhaar was felicitated on the occasion. Mr. Vignesha, a Computer Science & Engineering student, who won the gold medal in the Best Physique competition and selected as Mr. VTU Single Zone Best Physique in the 16th VTU Best Physique Championship 2015-16 and Ms. Snehal, a Civil Engineering student adjudged the best student by the Karnataka Chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education at its state level student convention, were also felicitated.

Dr. Y.V. N. Krishna Murthy, Scientific Advisor, ISRO; Mr. Shrinivasa Tantry, Vice president, SSVMET; Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director, SMVITM; Heads of the Departments, Adjunct Faculty members and Members of SSVMET were present. Dr. Lolita Priya Castelino, Head, Department of Mathematics introduced the chief guest. Mr. Ratnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Aditya Kudva, Alumni Affairs Coordinator, proposed a vote of thanks.
