The student chapter and the student council jointly organized a program as a part of the Engineer’s day observance on 15 September 2015. Prof. Dr. R. K. Yaji, former Dean at National Institute of Technology, Karnataka Surathkal was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Yaji said that engineers were capable of creating, sustaining and destroying like the Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara trio of the Hindu mythology. He told the audience that hard work was the only way forward to be successful engineers and great engineers like Sir, M. Visvesvaraya never allowed their personal problems to interfere in their professional life. He urged the students to imbibe the qualities of hard work, honesty, compassion, empathy and above all to be a good human being. Mr. Vignesh Kalathur, a member of the staff was honored for his artistic talents on the occasion. Prof. Dr. Vasudeva A., Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering paid rich tributes to Sir M. Visvesaraya by recalling some of his eminent contributions to the country both as an engineer and as administrator. Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal presided over the function. Prof. Dr. A. Ganesha, Dean (Academics) welcomed the gathering. Ms. Megha introduced the chief guest and Ms. Akshata proposed vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director, SMVITM was present.
