A one-week training program on “VLSI Design” for the final year students was recently inaugurated at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal. Dr. Rathnamala Rao, Professor of E&C Engineering at NMAMIT Nitte, inaugurated the training program. Speaking on the occasion, she said that there are many job opportunities for Electronics Engineers in the field of VLSI, provided that they are trained in the Verification and Testing aspects of VLSI circuits using CAD tools. She commended the institute for providing training to the students in this core area and preparing them to face the challenge. Mr. Raghukrishna S. of Contemporary Verification Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru, who imparted the training to the students, said that India is currently having shortage of VLSI Verification Professionals, and hence there is a bright future for VLSI trained students passing out of engineering colleges. Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, the Principal of SMVITM who presided over the function, admired the students for opting for this training during their vacation, and said that value additions mostly happen during vacations. Prof. Dr. A. Ganesha, the Academics Dean of SMVITM, Prof. Dr. Balachandra Achar H. V., the HOD of E&C Engineering, and other faculty members were present during the inaugural function.
