Awareness regarding NDT and QA/QC

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell and ISTE Student Chapter- SMVITM organised a workshop on Awareness regarding NDT and QA/QC for the V^th Semester Mechanical Engineering students on 25 September 2013. Mr. Joel Soans, along with his team, from Alfa Institute of Technology, Udupi was the resource person at the event.

The workshop gave the students a better idea about the NDT techniques, QA/QC along with safety engineering, which are in high demand in engineering industries today. The team conducted demonstrations of some of the NDT methods like Liquid Penetrate Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and Ultrasonic Testing. The requirement and importance of safety in work, different safety precautions and equipment were also introduced to the students. Some very pertinent questions such as “Why QA/QC processes are required?”, “What are the benefits of such methods?”, “What is the role of quality engineer?”, “How the field is beneficial for the career advancement?” were answered by the team during the QA/QC presentation session.

The team explained the career opportunities in all these fields and motivated the students to become familiar with these subjects by taking training by joining the courses, to get placed easily in industries working all around the world and more especially refineries in the Gulf, where the demand in these fields is huge.
