World Ozone Day

World Ozone Day, along with Engineers’ Day was celebrated under the aegis of Eco club of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal on 16 September 2013 at the premises.

P.Veerabhadra Rao, Deputy General Manager, Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd (ISPRL) Govt. of Indiawas theChief Guest and Mr.Rajashekar B. Puranik, Environmental officer, KSPCB, Regional office, Manipal and Shri Ratnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Udupi were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.

The Chief Guest, in his inaugural address, recalled the great services rendered by Sir M.Visvesaraya to the nation as a great engineer and administrator. The Guest of Honour, Mr.Rajashekar B. Puranik briefed about the various initiatives taken up by KSPCB to reduce air and water pollution in and around Udupi.

Special Talk on World Ozone Daywas delivered by Dr.Keyur Ravel, Asst. Prof., Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT- K Surathkal.

Prizes to the students, who won prizes in various competitions held in association with Karnataka Pollution Control Board for the students of SMVITM and the SVH English medium High School and PU College as a part of the observance of World Ozone Day, were also given away on the occasion.

Dr. A Ganesha, Dean (Academics) welcomed the gathering,Prof.Nagaraja Rao introduced the Chief Guest and Mr. Ganesh Kalagi, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering  proposed a vote of thanks.
