On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahitsav, the student chapter of the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized an invited talk on 13 January 2023 on the topic “Traditional Medicine History & Importance” at 11.30 A.M. in the seminar hall (Admin Block).
Dr. Jayakrishna Nayak, Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, S.D.M. College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Udupi, was the speaker. In his talk he told that the word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit language which is not only a medium of communication, it also gave rise to the whole civilization from which we are benefiting today. The ancient fundamentals of Ayurveda from which the patients are treated today are by the noumenal processes like observation; experience from Nature’s workings, without the existence of nature Ayurveda is nothing. Traditional science makes things easy for us and he called traditional food as medicinal food because the process of cooking food in the kitchen is almost the same as preparing medicine in Ayurveda. Every human being is benefited from Ayurveda unknowingly starting from birth till death. He concluded his talk by clearing the students’ doubts about the importance of Ayurveda.
Dr. Sudarshan Rao, Dean IQAC, welcomed the guest florally. The program was compered by Mr. Dhanush Shet of first-year CSE and Ms. Deviktha Hegde of first-year CSE. The branch heads, teaching & non-teaching staff, and students were present for the program.
