The Department of Basic Sciences, in association with the Student Chapter of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal had organized an invited talk on 26th February, titled ‘Nanotechnology and its Applications’. This talk was held on account of “National Science Day” to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by the great Indian physicist, Sir C V Raman.
Prof. Dr. D. Krishna Bhat, Professor, Department of Chemistry, NITK, Surathkal was the resource person. In his talk, he spoke about the simple methods nature adopted to synthesize nanomaterial, and how nano science and technology could bring about changes in the socio-economic condition of our country. He explained about the various fields in nano science and technology, which could bring in more opportunities for undergraduates, and how the nanomaterial and its allied technology could positively impact and bring forth effective solutions in the field of agriculture, medicine, energy storage, etc. He also spoke about the inventions that were made in his laboratory, and also in India, since prehistoric times.
Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, provided a brief introduction about the program. Ms. Usha H, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, compered the program.
