AVISHKAR 2k16 – SCIENCE MODEL COMPETITION

Inaugural Function:

The community club in association with ISTE of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized Avishkar 2K16, the third edition of annual intercollegiate science model exhibition-cum-competition for Pre University College students of the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts – at the institute premises on 05 November 2016. 75 teams comprising 214 students representing 30 PU colleges participated in this mega event. Geeve, Sohan Angelo & Mohith Shyam B of Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar bagged the first prize and the cash award for their model “Thumb Talk Helping Aid for the Dumb & Deaf”. Pavan Shetty, Pawan Kumar & Siddarth of Canara P U College, Mangaluru were awarded the second prize and cash award for the model “DAB”. Deepak T S, Karthik R & Suhas Jogi of SVH P U College, Innanje secured the third prize and cash award for their model “Super Cycle “. Trisha P U College, Viveka P U College and St. Lawrence P U College bagged the consolation prize.Dr. Srinivasa Aithal and Dr. Raviprakash were the jury members to evaluate the projects.Mr. Devesh Rajadhyax, Chief Scientist at Smartify Health, Founder and CEO Cere Labs, Mumbai, who was the Chief Guest of the function spoke on the importance of Technology and innovation and its contribution in the overall GDP growth of the country.

The inaugural function was presided over by Sri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Udupi. Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM welcomed the gathering and congratulated community club for organizing this event. Mr. Devesh Rajadhyax presented an invited talk on the topic of Artificial Intelligence.

Valedictory function: H. H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President, SSVMET presided over the function and gave away the prizes to the winners of the competition. Dr. Shrinivas Aithal, Professor-Physics Department, ICAS, Manipal University, Manipal was the Chief Guest. Sri Srinivasa Tantry, Vice President, SSVMET was present during the occasion. Coordinator of AVISHKAR 2K16 presented a brief report of the exhibition. Mr.Venugopal Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Laxmi Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of electronics and communication gave the vote of thanks. The community club coordinators and students were present during the function.
