The Human Rights Cell in association with NSS, YRC, RC Clubs of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) and Press club, Kaup has organized ‘Voter Awareness’ Program on Thursday, 16 April, 2018 at 09.50 AM the institute premises.
CEO of Udupi District and SVEEP Nodal officer Mr. Shivanda Kapashi inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and gave inaugural address. During addressing to the students Mr. Kapashi motivated students to cast vote and fulfill the role in the democracy.
He also added that, in democracy, it is not simply enough to inform voters about election dates. In order to help the electorates take an informed decision, it is quintessential to sensitize them about the importance of participating in the electoral process. Moreover, voters need to be educated about the process and made aware of the political parties, their manifestos, backgrounds of the contesting candidates and armed with several other information to help them cast an ‘enlightened’ vote.
Mr. Ashok Kamath, BOE, Kundapura demonstrated the usage of VVPAT and voting machine. Also he invited few students to the stage, showed the function of the voting machine and VVPAT.
Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET Udupi, Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, members of Press Club Kaup, Mr. Shrinivasa, Coordinator of Human Rights Cell, his team members, Section heads of various departments were present during the occasion.
More than 300 students of SMVITM were present and they got the advantage of this program.
