On the occasion of World Environment Day, NSS-YRC-RC Unit of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal, Forest Department, Udupi, Grama Panchayth Shirva, Swasahaya Sangha, Shirva, jointly organized “Vanamahothsava Program” on Wednesday, 05 June 2024 in the institute premises. Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Udupi inaugurated the program by planting a sapling. Prof. Dr. Thirumalshwara Bhat, Principal, Prof. Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal; Dr. Sudarshan Rao, Dean, Shri Mohan P, Executive Officer, Kapu Thaluk Panchayath, Ms. Savitha Poojarthy, Wilson Rodrigous, Anantha Padmanabha Naik respectively the President, Vice President and PDO of Grama Panchayath Shirva, PDO, Grama Panchayath, Shirva; Ms. Anusha Bhat & Shri G Krishnnappa, Zonal Forest Officer and Sub zonal Forest Officers respectively, Social Forest, Udupi, Mr. Prathyaksha Kamath, Forest Department, Perdoor, Mr. Venkappa Naik Engineer, Mahatma Gandhi Employment Gurantee Scheme, Kapu, Mr. Nagaraja Rao, NSS Coordinator; HODs of various departments, students and staff members and members of Swa-sahaya Sangha Shirva witnessed the event. Students showed great eagerness while planting the saplings of various trees. Fruits and medicinal saplings were planted in the campus during the program. The program was held as a part of “Go green initiative” to make the campus greener and more beautiful. The event aims to promote afforestation and environmental conservation. It is a significant initiative in combating climate change and preserving the ecosystem.
