The NSS Unit in association with Counseling Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi jointly organized an invited talk on “Happy Engineering” in the institute premises. Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane, a distinguished Consultant Psychiatrist at Dr. A.V. Baliga Memorial Hospital in Doddanagudde, Udupi. was the resource person.
Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane captivated a room full of eager first-year students with his enlightening discourse titled “Happy Engineering” at SMVITM. Dr. Devaramane’s talk aimed to address the often-overlooked aspect of mental well-being in the academic journey of budding engineers.
Dr. Devaramane initiated the discussion by delving into the intricacies of happiness, emphasizing its profound impact on academic success and overall quality of life. He challenged the conventional notion of happiness as a distant goal, advocating instead for its cultivation through mindful practices and resilience-building strategies.
Throughout the talk, Dr. Devaramane artfully navigated the unique challenges facing engineering students, ranging from academic pressures to personal expectations. Drawing from his expertise, he shed light on the detrimental effects of chronic stress and the importance of developing resilience in overcoming obstacles.
Attendees were particularly engaged as Dr. Devaramane shared practical tips for managing stress, such as mindfulness techniques, time management strategies, and the importance of seeking social support.
