Librarian’s Day celebrated at SMVITM

Library committee of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) in association with ISTE Student Chapter organized Librarian’s Day on Tuesday 13 August 2019 at the institution premise to commemorate the Birthday of Dr. S. R. Rangananthan.

Dr. Manjunatha Chief Librarian, TAPMI, Manipal was the Chief Guest for the event. On this occasion, he addressed the first-year students and oriented them towards the importance of the Library usage in technical education. He initially quoted the best practices like bookstall facility; formation of the reader’s club etc. adapted at the TAPMI and how it helped the students to cultivate the reading habit.  He asked the students to utilize the library to the maximum possible extent to keep updated in the competitive world. Furthermore, he also shared information on several websites through which students; faculty, and research scholars can access electronic resources and update their knowledge base. He concluded his talk with an urge to the students to make the best use of the college library facilities and also asked them to contribute towards the growth of the college Library.

Ms. Thrishna final year ECE student compared the program to; Vice-Principal of the college Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Heads of various departments, and a few faculties were present on this occasion. Ms. Usha Kulal, Librarian, SMVITM and ISTE Coordinator Deepak Rao M. coordinated the event.
