World Nature Conservation Day – Nakshatra Vana Plantation Drive

The NSS Unit of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, in association with SDM College of Ayurveda Hospital and Research Centre, Kuthpady, Udupi, organized the World Nature Conservation Day – Nakshatra Vana Plantation Drive on 28 July 2026 at the college campus.

The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students, faculty, and the local community.

The event was held in the presence of Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, Sode Group of Institutions; Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM; Dean (Academics); Dean (R&D); NSS Coordinators; faculty members, staff, and students. Dr. Ravi K. V. and Dr. Ravi Krishna from SDM College of Ayurveda Hospital and Research Centre, Kuthpady, Udupi, graced the programme as chief guests. Faculty members and students from Niramaya College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences also participated enthusiastically.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ravi Krishna highlighted the importance of herbal gardens and tree plantation in conserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance. He explained the medicinal and environmental significance of the plant species selected for the Nakshatra Vana and encouraged students to actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives and adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
