SMVITM Students Win First Place at YUGMA TECH FEST 2.0

Students Mr. Poornand, Ms. Shreya S. Nayak, Mr. Shivam Shetty, and Mr. Tejas Nayak of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, secured First Place with a cash prize of ₹50,000 at the prestigious YUGMA TECH FEST 2.0 Hackathon, held at JNNCE, Shivamogga, on 25 July 2026.

The team participated in the AI for Medical Image Enhancement track and developed an innovative Artificial Intelligence framework for medical image enhancement and segmentation using the BraTS brain tumour dataset and a custom spine dataset. The solution employed advanced deep learning techniques to improve image clarity and accurately identify tumour and spinal structures, supporting more effective medical diagnosis.

The achievement reflects the students’ technical excellence, innovation, and teamwork and brings pride to the institution. The Management, Principal, and faculty members congratulated the students and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
