Independence Day Celebrations at SODE Group of Institutions, Udupi

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great fervour and patriotic spirit on August 15, 2026, in association with Niramaya College of Nursing and Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences, Bantakal.

The celebrations were graced by Dr. Gururaj Kidiyoor, Professor and Dean – Academics, TAPMI, Manipal, who hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Independence Day message. Reflecting on India’s remarkable journey since independence, he remembered the invaluable contributions of the freedom fighters and acknowledged the role of great leaders and engineers in the nation’s post-independence development.

Addressing the students, Dr. Kidiyoor encouraged them to actively contribute to nation-building and emphasized the importance of continuously updating their skill sets in line with evolving industry requirements.

Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, SODE Group of Institutions; Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM; Mrs. Roshni Rodrigues, Principal, Niramaya College of Nursing; Mr. Shivashankar Pai, Principal, Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences, along with faculty, staff and students, were present on the occasion.

As part of the celebrations, SMVITM organized patriotic group singing and poster-making competitions for faculty and staff. The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation and received appreciation from the gathering.

The NCC cadets and Associate NCC Officer Lt. Karthik V. played an active role in organizing and conducting the celebrations, contributing significantly to making the occasion memorable.

The Independence Day celebrations at SMVITM reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity and national pride, inspiring students and the entire campus community to uphold the values of freedom, responsibility and service to the nation.
