From Generative AI to Autonomous Action: Exploring the World of Agentic AI

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, SMVITM, in association with the IEEE Student Branch, ISTE, and Ignite AI, organized an engaging hands-on workshop on “Understanding Agentic AI” on 09 September 2026. The session was facilitated by Mr. Sai Avinash Patoju, Founder, Exvisit.

The workshop introduced students to the evolving landscape of Agentic Artificial Intelligence, helping them understand how AI agents reason, use tools, retain memory, and perform tasks through autonomous workflows. Participants explored the transition from conventional Generative AI to intelligent, goal-oriented AI systems through practical demonstrations and interactive learning.

Students also experienced AI-native software development using Exvisit’s Chat Studio and Code Studio, gaining hands-on exposure to building software with AI agents. Working collaboratively in teams, they identified real-world problems, researched possible approaches, planned solutions, and developed working software prototypes with the support of AI agents.

The practical sessions further emphasized the importance of evaluating AI-generated outputs, iterative debugging, refinement, and human-in-the-loop verification to improve the reliability and effectiveness of AI-driven solutions.

The workshop concluded with live project demonstrations, where student teams presented their working prototypes, shared their key learnings, and participated in an interactive Q&A session.

The event provided students with valuable practical exposure to Agentic AI and AI-powered software development, encouraging them to explore emerging technologies and apply intelligent systems to real-world challenges.
