A Golden Move: Shreesha K. S. Acharya Clinches VTU Karate Gold

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, is proud to celebrate a remarkable sporting achievement by Mr. Shreesha K. S. Acharya, a first-year B.E. student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

Shreesha showcased exceptional skill, focus and fighting spirit at the VTU State-Level Karate (Men’s) Championship, held at R.V. College of Architecture, Bengaluru, on September 11 and 12, 2026.

Competing in the -60 kg weight category, Shreesha emerged victorious to claim the Gold Medal, bringing laurels to SMVITM and demonstrating that excellence extends far beyond the classroom.The victory has also opened the door to the next level of competition. Following his impressive performance, Shreesha has been selected to represent the VTU Karate Team at the upcoming South Zone (National-Level) Championship.

His achievement reflects the dedication, discipline and perseverance required to excel in competitive sport. As a first-year student, this accomplishment marks an inspiring beginning to his journey at SMVITM.

The Principal, faculty members and students of SMVITM congratulated Shreesha K. S. Acharya on his outstanding achievement and wished him continued success as he takes on the South Zone championship.From a golden finish at the state level to representing VTU on the national stage, Shreesha has given SMVITM yet another reason to celebrate.
