From Schematic to Circuit Board: ECE Students Explore KiCad PCB Design

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SMVITM, in association with the Technocrators Club, organized a hands-on workshop on “KiCad PCB Design & Development” on 25 September 2026.
The workshop was conducted for 2nd and 3rd Year ECE students, with 40 participants. The sessions were led by Mr. Raveesha Padmashali K S and Mr. Manvith M Poojary, Final Year ECE students, and coordinated by Ms. Pavithra Poornima S.
Students gained practical experience in schematic design, component placement, PCB routing, Gerber file generation, design verification, and PCB etching using KiCad. The hands-on approach helped students understand the complete workflow from circuit schematic to fabrication-ready PCB.
