ECO club unit of Shri MadhwaVadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), in association with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), as part of World Water Day observance, organized a guest talk on 22 March 2016.
The guest speaker was Dr. K. Balakrishna, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department, MIT, Manipal. He spoke about the current issues with water that the entire world is facing and the methods adopted by some countries in conserving water for the future. He also gave example about certain villages in India where they had made a change in the entire system to conserve water in draught affected areas.
Mr. Keerthi Kumar, Environmental Officer, KSPCB Regional Office, Udupi gave an overview of World Water Day. The guest talk was followed by an interactive quiz session on Water, conducted by students of ECO club under the guidance of Prof. Dr. A Ganesha, Dean (Academics), SMVITM for the audience. Mr. Vivek, Assistant Environmental Officer, KSPCB Regional Office, Udupi; Heads of Departments, Mr. Sunil Haldankar, Eco club coordinator; faculty members and students were present. Ms. Anjum Roshan introduced the guest speaker and a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Nikhil. Ms. Chaithra Pai was the Master of Ceremony.
