VTU-Mangalore Zone Kabaddi Tournament 2021-2022 for men was held on 14/12/21 at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal. 13 teams from Mangalore zone participated in the tournament.
The chief guest Mr. Prakash, Circle Police Inspector, Kapu Circle, Udupi district inaugurated the event. He has congratulated the college management for organizing university zonal level tournaments and said students are fortunate to get such modern facilities in today’s participation. He also stated failure need to be accepted and students must develop participation spirit.
Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi was the guest of honour. He stated Kabaddi has come long way being played as a rural sport to having an international Kabaddi federation.
Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal and President of the function wished good luck for the participants and also mentioned Kabaddi is played in more than 30 countries and is the national game of Bangladesh. Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal present on the occasion.
Mr. Sachin Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Dept of Electronics and communication engineering, welcomed the gathering. Ms. Akshatha Rao introduced the chief guest to the gathering. Physical Education Director, Mr. Muralidhar Sharma, proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Aninditha compeered the program.
Deans and HOD’s of various departments, faculty and staff members were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology won the first prize and Yenepoya Institute of Technology secured the runner-up prize. Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal, SMVITM gave away the prizes for the winning teams. Mr. Muralidhara Sharma, Physical Education Director and sports coordinator Mr.Sachin Prabhu K were present during the event.
