Teachers’ day and Engineer’s day were celebrated together at SMVITM, Bantakal

ISTE Faculty Chapter of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal celebrated Teachers’ Day and Engineer’s day to commemorate birthdays of the two great legends of our country Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Sir  Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya at the institute premises.
Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director, MIT, Manipal Academy of Higher Education was the Chief Guest for the event. He remembered his olden days of teaching and said that during 1990’s the teacher’s role was restricted to teach the concepts in the classroom but the ever changing trend, posing lot of challenges to the teachers to play a varieties of role such as mentor, researcher, counselor, entrepreneur, data provider and many more.. He continued the speech; the faculty also needs to share the inspiring stories in the classroom about the achievements of their seniors. Also he highlighted on the 17 sustainable development goals of the nation, we are being the teacher and engineer let us all provide the sustainable solutions for the intricate problems of our country and serve the nation to the best of an individual capacity.
Dr. SomashekaraBhat was honored during the occasion and Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal at his presidential speech highlighted the importance of the quality teaching and being honest in the society.
Invocation was done by Ms. Poojashree, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mr. SachinPrabhu, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering welcomed the gathering and gave a brief overview about the relevance of both Teachers’ Day and Engineer’s Day. Mr. Raghavendra Hegde, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, introduced the Chief Guest, Ms. Kavyalaxmi Upadhyaya, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Akshatha Rao, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering compeered the program. Vice Principal, HoDs of various departments, Teaching and non-teaching staff were present during the program.
