SMVITM ECE Department Organizes “Career Craft” Talk with Mr. Chandan Rao on May 7, 2025

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at SMVITM, in association with the Placement Cell, successfully conducted a talk titled “Career Craft: Mastering Resumes, Interviews and Communication” for its third-year students. The session was led by the esteemed Mr. Chandan Rao, a Freelance Admission Consultant and Soft Skill Trainer.

The event commenced with a welcoming address by Saviksha, a third-year ECE student and MC for the day. Mr. Chandan Rao was formally welcomed by Mr. Arun Upadhyaya, Head of the ECE Department, with a floral bouquet.

Mr. Rao initiated the session with an engaging activity, prompting students to brainstorm futuristic features for smartphones, fostering creative thinking and serving as an effective icebreaker. Following this, he encouraged students to identify their individual strengths, emphasizing the crucial role of self-awareness in effective career planning.

A core segment of the talk focused on resume optimization. Mr. Rao highlighted common pitfalls in student resumes and provided actionable advice for improvement, detailing the types of skills to include and how to effectively present strengths during interviews. He also underscored the significance of personal presentation, offering valuable insights into appropriate dressing and grooming for interviews, along with practical do’s and don’ts to create a strong first impression.

The session continued with essential interview tips, covering preparation strategies, methods for answering common questions, stress management techniques, and fostering confident communication. Real-life examples and scenarios were shared to make the advice tangible and relatable for the students.

The event concluded with Mr. Arun Upadhyaya presenting a letter of appreciation to Mr. Chandan Rao. The session was seamlessly coordinated by Ms. Yogeshwari B H and Ms. Vimitha A, ECE Department Placement Coordinators.

Overall, the “Career Craft” session proved to be highly informative and motivational, equipping students with a deeper understanding of how to enhance their employability and perform confidently in the competitive job market.
