The Counselling Cell of SMVITM organized a talk on “Mind Engineering: An Attempt towards work-life balance” by Dr. Surfraz J Hasim, Principal, PA First grade college, Mangalore. The talk was conducted on 20 November 2021 for all the teaching staff of the college at the Seminar Hall, Admin Block from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm.
The session was very interesting and started with how our state of mind perceives emotions and how we handle them normally as teachers, individuals or parents, etc. The session emphasized the difference between mind and brain, the conscious and subconscious mind, to help understand how the mind functions.
The speaker shared how technology and the pandemic have changed our lifestyle and habits today. How good things have also come out of the pandemic and technology changes to bring more positivity in our lives?
The audience were benefited from various activities conducted to “sharpen the mind” through acupressure points to activate both sides of the brain.
They also understood the importance of reading Dr. Joseph Murphy’s book – The Power of the Sub-conscious Mind. In the end, the speaker conducted an activity with the help of volunteers where he demonstrated how auto-suggestion helped to achieve the goals of life. These were useful to deal with negative emotions or harsh words that were spoken to us in life. He finally ended the session by asking all the audience to do a SWOT analysis to understand ourselves better.
Dr. Thirumeleshwar Bhat, principal, HOD’s and Deans of various departments, faculty, staff were present for the session.
