As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav, and Har Ghar Dhyan Campaign, Ministry of Culture, Art of Living Foundation Bengaluru, NSS-YRC Unit and Yoga & Fitness Club of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal, jointly organized a session on “Meditation and Mental Health” on Friday, 13 January 2023. Dr. Hariprakash U P, Art of Living Teacher and Professor, Department of MBA, SIT, Valachil, was the resource person.
Dr. Hariprakash started his presentation by briefing the purpose of Har Ghar Dhyan campaign that is to engage the youth in mental health education and to equip them with meditation practices for improved health and wellness. Also he said that this campaign should reach out to masses and youth to educate them about mental health and empower them with the tool of meditation for better health and create a more resilient future for the country. Har Ghar Dhyan will act as a medium for guiding people toward a healthy lifestyle and will encourage them to take up meditation as a regular practice. In order to create a healthy environment across India during the Amrit Kaal, such initiatives are expected to play an important role.
Finally, he said that faculty and students should take benefit of this program by introducing to meditation as a solution for positive mental health.
Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal; Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal; Dean, Student Welfare Officer, HODs of various departments, Section heads were present during the talk. Mr.Nagaraja Rao, Coordinator NSS-YRC Unit and Mr. Ananthesh Rao K Coordinator, Yoga and Fitness Club conducted the program. Ms. Ramya Deshpande of 3rd year ECE welcomed the gathering and compeered the program; Ms. Ankitha of 3rd year ECE introduced the resource person and proposed vote of thanks. More than 150 students including Faculty, Staff were participated in the talk.
