The ‘Counselling Cell’ of SMVITM in association with parent teacher association had organized a seminar on ‘Teenage Minds’ for the parents of student community of SMVITM on 24/03/2018 in the institute premises.
Dr. P.V. Bhandary, Director of A.V. Baliga Hospital, Udupi tried to open the eyes of many parents gathered by stressing on the fact that home is the first learning paradise for children and every good thing must start from their home. He threw some key points on the role of the parents in the overall development of their children.
He said, nowadays parents and guardians are failing to spare much time to attend and cater the all-round needs of their children which may lead to unpleasant developments like children feeling loneliness and loosing hopes on their parents. Especially in teenage children’s mental condition shall be fickle and sensitive. They may also get too much addicted to smart phones, hence the social media. In extreme cases children may turn into anti-social elements because of the lack of care and negligence towards them by the parents. He gave a detailed description on how to tackle all these situations and how to actually bring the children up in life to turn them as good citizens for the country.
Principal, Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Heads of various departments, all team members of the Counselling Cell were present in the event.
