Road Safety Awareness Program at SMVITM

 As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross Wing of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, under the aegis of Shirva Police Station and Nagaraika Seva Samithi® Bantakal organized “Road Safety Awareness Program” on Tuesday, 20 December 2022 at the institute premises.  Mr. S Vijaya Prasad, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Karkala was the resource person.

Mr. S Vijaya Prasad in his speech explained the audience about the importance of road safety and being aware of not only one’s safety but also of other people driving by your side and making them also follow the road safety rules. He also said about how to drive, precautions, rules and regulations etc so we can be safe on road. He explained everything with suitable examples so the students can understand and implement them. He motivated all the students to come forward with new projects to decrease traffic problems and accidents.

Mr. C Poovayya, Circle Inspector of Police, Kaup, emphasized on the traffic rules and regulations which are commonly neglected by citizens that cause major accidents. Also he stressed all the people to wear helmets and seatbelts while driving and also to ensure safe road crossing by insisting that pedestrians to follow rules.

Dr. Sudarshan Rao K, Dean, IQAC, SMVITM, in his presidential remarks said that it is the duty and responsibility of all the people present to adhere to the traffic and safety rules and he appreciated the efforts made by Nagaraika Seva Samithi®, Bantakal in conducting the program.

As a part of road safety program, students from Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal participated in jatha from college to Bantakal town with placards showing Road Safety slogans and fatal risks caused by vehicles. The leaflets related to the road safety are distributed to the on road travelers.

Mr. Raghavendra C, Police Sub Inspector, Shirva, Mr. Anil Kumar, Police Sub Inspector (Investigation), Mr. K R Patkar, President, Nagarika Seva Samithi®, Bantakal, Presidents and Secretaries of Car and Auto riksha association Bantakal; Nagaraja Rao NSS-YRC Unit Coordinator; Departmental Coordinators, HODs, Faculty, Staff, Office bearers and members of NSS-YRC Unit were present during the function.

Earlier, Ms. Shreya Thantry 3rd year ECE invoked the blessings from the Almighty; Mr. K R Patkar welcomed the gathering and given the introductory speech. Mr. Vidish compeered the program; Ms. Chaithra proposed vote of thanks. More than 200 staff members including students were participated in the awareness program and jatha.
