Shree Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal organized an orientation programme for the newly admitted B.E students at the institute premises on 4 August 2013. The major objective of the programme was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the course, the rules and regulations of the Institute and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the performance and progress of the students.
The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Konduri Lakshminarayana, General Manager, HR, MRPL, Mangalore and other dignitaries.
Mr. Lakshminarayana, while delivering a speech on the occasion, said that it was not the events but the attitude that caused success. One third of what constitutes a person is his genetic inheritance; another one third comes from the kind of upbringing he /she receives and the remaining one third from one’s own self. He also stressed the importance of dedication to one’s profession and the need to have proper planning before taking up and implementing any project.
In his brief address to the students and parents, the Principal of SMVITM, Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal expressed delight over the fact that SMVITM crossed ninety percentage of admission just within three years of its inception and the Institute had already become a much sought after institution for engineering studies in the Coastal Karnataka region. He also reiterated the Management’s commitment to elevate the Institute to the status of one of the 10 best engineering colleges in the state within the shortest time possible and he sought the cooperation and support of the parents for same.
Mrs Raviprabha the Student Welfare Officer of SMVITM briefed the students about the rules and regulations of the institute and requested the students and parents to understand and abide by the institutional rules and norms.
Dr. Lolita Priya Castelino, Head of the Department of Mathematics gave necessary information about the academic design of the first year B.E Course and the University and Institute rules and regulations regarding academic matters.
Mr. Ratnakumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, the organization that promotes the Institute, expressed his gratitude to the parents and students for having faith and confidence in the institution.
Prof. Dr. A Ganesha, Dean (Academics) welcomed the gathering. The pprogramme was presided over by Shri. Shrinivas Tantry, Vice President, SSVMET. A vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Vivekanand Huddar, Head, Department of Mechanical engineering and the programmeme was compeered by Mr. Anand Hegde and Ms. Dhanyashree.
