The fifth Annual Day of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi was celebrated on 21 February 2015.
H.H. Shri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Shri Pejavara Mutt, Udupi, who delivered a speech on the occasion, said that, as both the body and the soul were required for the effective functioning of a human being, so were material and spiritual education essential for the harmonious development of humans. He congratulated H.H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamij of Sode Vadiraja Mutt, the founder of SMVITM, on making commendable contributions to promoting material as well as spiritual education in the region. He also complimented the Sode seer for establishing SMVITM at such a young age and wished that the institute would grow into a university in the years to come.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Mr. Ananthakrishna, Chairman, Karnataka Bank Ltd., Mangaluru, said that combining engineering and management skills were of utmost importance in the present world. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the analytical and reasoning skills in students to make them competent and successful in their professional careers later on in life. Getting to know the details of one’s area of specialization and having an in-depth understanding of the various aspects of an issue would stand one in good stead. Instead of becoming mere slaves of the modern gadgets, the youth should develop their analytical skills and thinking powers.
Various scholarships, best outgoing student awards and academic proficiency prizes instituted by various philanthropists, individuals and organizations were awarded to the recipients on the occasion.
H.H. Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamij, President, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi presided over the function. Principal of the institute, Prof. Radhakrishna S. Aithal presented the Annual Report. Mr. Ratnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET welcomed the gathering and Prof. Ganesha A., Dean (Academics) proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Akash Shetty Mr. Rohil Joseph Lobo and Mr. Gagan Prabhu, Student Council members, members of the Trust and the Governing Council were also present.
The formal function was followed by various variety entertainment programmes by the students.
