Udupi, May. 03 : “The cleverness and intelligence of an individual enriched with knowledge gained from education has to be contributed back to the society to add value to our lives” said Mr. Ramachandra V Bhat, Vice President (Operations & Maintenace), Udupi Power Corporation Limited, Padubidri. He was speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of third annual day celebrations of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal, Udupi.
Presiding over the function, Shri. Rathna Kumar, Secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi outlined the hard phase of bringing up the Institution as well as requested the students to work hard and get success inorder to make the dream of rendering technical education in the rural area of His Holiness Shri Shri Vishwawallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt come true.
The Principal of the Institution Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S Aithal presented to the audience the annual report of the college and remembered the hard work of the people behind the scene to make the programme a success. Shri. P. Raghavendra Thantry, Trustee of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi was present on the dias.
Another guest of the day, Mr. N Upendra Prabhu, General Manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd., Mangalore advised the student community to preserve the nature and avoid any imbalance in the eco system through technical advancements.
The student chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) was inaugurated and the co-ordinator Prof. Anand V R briefed out the importance of starting ISTE at SMVITM. A monetory help was rendered to the old age home “Vishwasada Mane” and special childrens home “Manasa” collected through the Institute NSS, Red Cross and Rotaract Club wings.
Dr. B. Radheshyam welcomed the gathering while Prof. Kishore R Baglodi, Vice Principal introduced the chief Guest. Prof. Nagaraja Rao introduced the guest of honour, while Prof. Shainy Salins read out the list of the winners in various events. Cash prizes sponsored by His Holiness Shri Shri Vishwawallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt and the scholarships awarded by Sri H V Gowthama, Chartered Accountant, Bangalore, were distributed for the students who have excelled in the University examinations.
Prizes for the winners in various events held as part of the “Varnothsava” as well as the college annual day were presented. The programme commenced with the invocation by Ms. Usha and was compered by Ms. Alisha and Mr. Nihal Shetty. Prof. Renita Monis thanked all those responsible for making the event a grand success. The restructured website of the Institute as well as a documentary film about the Institute was released during the occasion. Various cultural events by the students followed the formal programme.
