The Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM) recently hosted an invited talk on “Research Funding Opportunities and Prospects.” Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Faculty Chapter, the event featured Dr. Ashok Rao, Associate Director (R&D) at MIT, Manipal, as the key resource person.
Dr. Rao’s session highlighted the critical role of research in academia and the challenges faced by educators. He underscored the need to balance teaching with active research, emphasizing that a Ph.D. marks only the beginning of a research journey. A significant portion of his talk focused on various government and private funding agencies, offering practical advice to faculty seeking grants.
The program, smoothly compered by Ms. Sowmya Bhat, Assistant Professor in Electronics & Communication, concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Radhakrishna Aithal, CEO, who expressed gratitude to all participants.
