Invited talk on “Awareness about the Rights of Women”

The Women Empowerment Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, organized an invited talk on “Awareness about the Rights of Women” for first year girl students of SMVITM on 22nd February 2020 in Seminar Hall 3 of library block. Ms. Megha Rani Shivanand, Advocate, Moodbidri was the resource person. She created an awareness about the rights of women and its protection highlighting some of the major issues with women like physical abuse (acid attack, honour killing), dowry abuse, etc. She also insisted on the fact that women must be bold enough to protect herself and other women victims by raising her voice against these attacks and filing complaint in case of such issues in the nearest police station without any fear. Ms. Megha also informed the students about women legal aid cell located in different states and districts, providing awareness about rights and protection to women, free of cost and motivated the students to educate the future generation about the rights of women. 73 girl students from first year and members of Women Empowerment Cell actively participated in the session.
