Human Rights Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) Bantakal celebrated 71st Independence Day of our country, in the college campus on 15 August 2017.
Eminent teacher and educationalist Shri Krishna Kumar hoisted the National flag along with Sri Raghavendra Tantry, Member SSVMET, Udupi and Principal of the college Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat.
Shri Krishna Kumar in his address to the gathering recollected the struggle and sacrifice of our great freedom fighters to get Independence to our country. He spoke on the need to make our country free from current internal problems like corruption, extortion and external problems caused by neighboring countries like terrorism and land encroachment. He also made an appeal with the students of the college to develop the habit of identifying the societal needs and provide the most appropriate solution to the problems making use of technological advancement in the country.
Principal addressed the gathering and ignited the young minds of SMVITM. He appealed the students not to restrict their technical expertise to earning purpose; instead they should also focus on taking up administrative roles like IAS, IPS and serve for the betterment of our county.
HODs of all the disciplines, Faculty members, Staff and students of the college attended the function and witnessed the national flag being hoisted.
Ms. Shinny Melita D’Souza of Dept. of CSE, welcomed the gathering and compeered the program. Physical Director Mr. Prashanth M. D introduced the chief guest. Mr. Madhu, Security officer guided the dignitaries in the process of hoisting the flag. Mr. Karthik Kumar of Dept. of Mech. rendered the vote of thanks and the program was concluded with the singing of national anthem.
